Tips To Improve Your Golf Game
by Lee MacRae
Here are some great tips to help improve the various aspects of your golf game.
Once you hit a shot you must stop and read what you just did and you must read it correctly. You must be in a balanced finish to read it properly, so you can check your alignment in case the shot is off line. As you stand in a perfectly balanced finish and watch your ball, ask yourself: how does my balance feel, how was the brush, how was the path, was the clubface in the correct position, and did I hit it in the center of the clubface? Then, either focus more on what is missing, or play it and go fix it after the round. You will only be able to accomplish 8 to 10 perfect shots per round, so be mentally prepared!
Jack Nicklaus once give a clinic years ago at the Inverarry Country Club in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Jack hit 12 tee shots of various trajectories from high to low. Not once was the tee knocked out of the ground and in all cases he elected to leave the height of the tee the same - he had the ball teed high. An effective optical aid you may want to use would be another golf tee other than the one the ball is teed upon. Note in the illustration, the tee is angled in the level to sightly upward position in relation to the ground. By placing the secondary tee across from the ball being struck, the student can set for himself the path the clubhead must be on in order to strike the ball with a solid, level blow.
Throughout the entire swing you should let your body swing your arms, much like swinging a heavy ball at the end of a chain. If you keep your elbows together and in front of your center (the upper part of your body) in the hitting area centrifugal force will create club head speed. The faster you can move the body in the forward swing without sacrificing a smooth rhythmic tempo the more club head speed you will develop. The left arm will rotate and the right arm will extend and cross over the left, just as a home run hitter's arms react. It is imperative that you keep the body moving to the finish. Otherwise the arms and hands will deliver prematurely.
If you implement these tips and work on them, you will be certain to develop a better drive within a short period of time. Just keep on practicing and working on your improvement. It's only a matter of time before your scores begin to drop.

To a beginning golfer hitting a golf ball seems easy until they try it. Golf can be a sometimes frustrating, and time-consuming game to learn. My recommendation is that players practice patience by not hurrying to the golf course to learn how to play. Do your learning on the practice range where your mind will not be on scoring, but on learning.

To develop the best possible grip for you. Every golfer swings and grips the club differently. Over 90 percent of golfers use the Vardon or overlapping grip. Players with smaller hands sometimes find the interlocking grip, with the little finger of the right hand interlocked with the index finger of the left hand, works best for them. Players with smaller should use a baseball type grip.

The target is not always the center of the fairway or green. To setup the next shot the target could be to the left or right of the fairway. Ball flight differs between players. If a player fades his tee shot, the target would be to the left of center of the fairway. If he draws the ball, the target would be right of center. One good point here is to always aim away from trouble on the course whenever possible. If there is trouble on the right, tee on the right side of the teeing area. Do the opposite if the trouble is on the left. In other words, tee the ball on the side the trouble is.

Storing A Golf Cart or Mower For The Winter

Small engine vehicles, like golf carts, lawn mowers and trucksters, need the same care and maintenance as a car or truck. Owners tend to forget that putting a golf cart or mower away for the winter requires the same care as if you were planning to store a vehicle for an extended amount of time. Too often carts are stored away in some corner of the garage without much thought given to how well they will start up when the weather improves.

Jim has heard from a few of your fellow cohorts that you like to go golfing on the weekends. Fast forward a few days, its 9:00 AM Saturday morning, and you are at the first tee, staring at your ball, driver in hand, your boss is behind you, and you are shaking like a leaf.

Golfers tend to suffer more pain and injury to their backs than any other athletic sport. It is no surprise that in the golf swing, the back is the stabilizing pillar, and everything rotates around this pillar. The fact remains that our backs were never really designed for golf or for sitting for prolong periods of time, so it comes as no surprise that 8 out of 10 people suffer some form of back pain.
